The Enormously Great Unusual Plant & Art Fair – 31st August 2014

We are getting very excited about our upcoming Unusual Plant and Art Fair this year as we have a wealth of great exhibitors coming to spoil you with their incredible selection of plants and art works.

NEW ! Plant & Art Creche !
This year the local scouts group will be providing a Plant & Art Creche for all your purchases, as well as a handy run to car service for a small donation !

FOOD
We shall be offering a great range of homemade food with the ever popular Shetland Lamb Burgers featuring on the menu, homemade soup and filled ploughman’s rolls. Delicious homemade cakes, scones ,teas ,coffees and Ice creams will of course be there for you to enjoy as normal !

Entrance to the Fair and the garden on that day is £6 adult, £3 child. RHS members are kindly asked to pay £4.80 for entrance to the Fair that day , Season Ticket holders can use their season tickets to come in for free !

 Anne Kelly – Artist in Residence & The RSPB

Anne Kelly, our textile artist in residence for our 2014 season, is making a large collaborative wall exhibit in support in The RSPB  with us at Sussex  Prairies ,and we want you to join in the fun of creation.

How you can be a part of it !

Please send us drawings, cutouts, collages, pictures of plants,animals, birds, insects, reptiles, fish, amphibiansour natural wildlife – small sized- no bigger than A5 size, which can become part of the work. Maybe you have a poem, piece of writing or phrase which you feel would fit in with our theme and which you would like to see incorporated. All your work will be credited with your name. We are happy to accept pictures, images by email or you can message/send items through Face book or Twitter. You are also welcome to send original pieces if you wish which we will copy and return back to you. Visitors to the garden will also be invited to contribute to the piece by making textile craftwork. Let’s make it really wild!

Add- er row at a time !

Join  us for the great big adder knit in our teashop when the garden opens again ! Come and join us for teas,coffees and cakes and enjoy a natter with a bit of knitting thrown in for good pleasure. As part of our theme for this year – Giving Nature a Prairie Home- when we shall be joining with Anne Kelly and the RSPB to promote homes for wildlife- we shall be knitting the biggest adders in the world. Come and pick up some knitting needles and knit a row or two to make the biggest bunch of knitted adders in West Sussex !

Pat, my mum, will be there to offer knitting advice and pick up any dropped stiches ! and she can show you a knit and a purl as soon as the adders come out of the basket ! All wool , knitting needles and knitting know how will be waiting for you and the snake charmers !

Fact of the day : the collective noun for a group of adders : A sum of Adders .  You do the math !
